GCSE Digital Technology
The development of digital technologies has been one of the most important developments in human history. The Internet and the availability and use of different devices has changed society. The course involves using different applications such as Photoshop, video applications and Gamemaker to develop projects.
The course also involves learning about how computers work and how society uses devices today.
Unit 1. On-screen assessment (Screen exam). Externally assessed. 80 marks
Unit 2. Digital practices. Creating a website, game or animation using and manipulating a large data set. This will be from a brief and will be internally assessed. 80 marks.
Unit 3. Communicating in the digital world. Creating digital assets (video, music, graphics) for specific purposes. Internally assessed 60 marks.
GCSE Computer Science
The growth of computing in society keeps on expanding. In computing you will learn how to become part of this revolution and learn to truly understand how computers work, how to program and how to use your programming skills to develop solutions. This is an exciting GCSE, but you will need to ensure that you understand that learning to program and learning how computers process data is not easy. An excellence in maths and science will need to be called on to develop skills and learning. The course is assessed by 2 exams at the end of Yr 11.
Unit 1. Understanding computer science exam assessment
Unit 2. Computer programming. You will need to be able to program a solution to a problem in 2 hours.
