Extra-curricular

At Cardiff West we offer a variety of extra-curricular activities to support pupils’ academic progress and well-being.  Trips are run throughout the year and departments run revision sessions in the run up to exams.  The offer changes throughout the year to reflect the needs and demands of the academic year.

Debate Mate Club

The following pupils participated in the Debate Mate Cup at the Principality Stadium 14th May 2024 and were an absolute credit to the school. They won one of their debates and scored highly in the other two. This was the first time participating in the Debate Mate Cup and some pupils have only been debating for a few weeks, so this is a huge achievement!  

 LEGO CLUB 

Lego League Coding Competition at Ysgol Groes Wen.  A big well done to our pupils for
their fantastic performance! They earned an award for their resilience, teamwork,
and continuous improvement throughout the day.
